CULTURE
Turning Values Into Everyday Behaviour
– A Case Study
The Challenge
A fast-growing organisation wanted its values to become more than words on a wall. As the business expanded, it needed people across functions to understand the organisation’s purpose, align around a common cultural language and recognise what those values looked like in everyday behaviour.
The original journey was designed specifically to align people with purpose and cultural values, translate those values into day-to-day behaviour, strengthen trust and shared ownership, and create greater cohesion across the organisation.
What Mustardseed Did
Mustardseed designed a Value Immersion Journey using experiential simulations, facilitated reflection and behavioural conversations. Rather than simply explaining the values, participants experienced situations that surfaced communication, accountability, trust, collaboration and decision-making in action. The methodology deliberately combined simulation, debrief and concept so people could connect experience back to workplace behaviour.
The journey also translated values into observable behaviours, helping participants distinguish between simply knowing a value and actually living it. For example, accountability was connected to taking responsibility, setting clear expectations and seeking feedback.
The Outcome
The journey created stronger alignment around the organisation’s values and a more shared understanding of the culture it wanted to build. Conversations moved from “What are our values?” to “What does this value look like in the way we work?”
That shift helped turn culture from an abstract idea into something people could recognise, discuss and practise through their everyday behaviour.
